This case highlights our cooperation with a Singapore retail mall that ordered 8 customized reception desks for their newly upgraded commercial spaces. The client required modern aesthetics, durable materials, and designs that could integrate seamlessly with various mall tenants’ branding. Through detailed communication, CAD design support, and strict production standards, MEI YI Furniture successfully delivered a tailored solution that met both functional and visual expectations.
1. Project Background
In July 2025, a procurement representative from a well-known shopping mall in Singapore contacted us during their renovation planning. The mall was upgrading several customer service points and tenant reception areas throughout the building. They needed 8 reception desks in different locations, all sharing a consistent design style but allowing small variations in size and cable routing to match each area’s layout.
Because the mall receives heavy daily foot traffic, the client emphasized the importance of durability, clean finishing, and easy maintenance. After reviewing our previous commercial projects, they decided to proceed with MEI YI Furniture.
2. Understanding the Client’s Requirements
The client shared detailed expectations for the reception desks, including:
-
Modern minimalist design suitable for a large retail mall environment.
-
High scratch-resistance laminate for long-term use.
-
Rounded safety edges, especially important in public spaces.
-
Integrated cable channels for computers, displays, and POS systems.
-
Consistent color palette, mainly white with light wood accents.
To ensure accuracy, our design team prepared several style concepts, and the client selected a curved front-panel reception desk with a mix of wood grain and matte white finishes.
3. Technical Design & Customization
We provided free CAD and 3D renderings, adapted for each installation area within the mall. Although the desks shared the same main style, the dimensions differed slightly to fit hallway widths, information points, and customer service counters.
Key adjustments included:
-
Height variation for a standing reception counter.
-
Internal storage changes, such as additional drawers or CPU compartments.
-
Customized LED strip option for two desks located near the main entrance.
Before production, the client confirmed all drawings, materials, and final measurements.
4. Production & Quality Assurance
Production moved into the next phase at our 25,000 m² MEI YI facility. Since the desks were public-use furniture, quality control was especially strict:
-
Inspection of E1-grade eco-friendly boards before cutting.
-
Precision CNC cutting to achieve smooth joints for curved designs.
-
Carefully applied anti-fingerprint matte finishes.
-
Test installation of one sample structure to ensure cable channels were positioned correctly.
-
Edge-banding durability tests to ensure no peeling under frequent use.
The client received weekly photo and video updates throughout production.
5. Packaging & Delivery to Singapore
Each reception desk was packed with:
-
Multi-layer EPE foam
-
Custom-cut corner protectors
-
Reinforced export-standard cartons
-
Additional wooden frames for curved front panels
The goods were shipped via FCL to Singapore. We provided installation manuals, component lists, and necessary customs documents to ensure smooth importation.
6. Installation & Customer Feedback
Two weeks after delivery, the client shared photos of the desks installed across different parts of the mall. They praised:
-
The consistent color tone across all desks
-
The sturdy structure and clean finishing
-
The convenience of pre-configured cable channels
-
The elegant design that blended seamlessly into the mall environment
The mall later expressed interest in adding matching service counters and kiosk-style information booths for their next renovation phase.
